ποΈ Dreaming of turquoise waters, volcanoes, and untouched beaches β but without the crowds of Bali?
Welcome to Lombok, the island next door that many travelers call “Bali 30 years ago.” With stunning waterfalls, the mighty Mount Rinjani, world-class surfing, and some of Indonesia’s most beautiful beaches, Lombok deserves a top spot on your Southeast Asia bucket list.
This Ultimate Lombok Travel Guide covers everything first-time visitors need to know: best time to visit, how to get there, where to stay, top attractions, transportation, budgets, and insider tips. Let’s dive in!
π Lombok Quick Facts for First-Timers
Best Time to Visit Lombok
Dry Season (April to October): This is the best time to visit Lombok. Sunny skies, calm seas, perfect for beaches, snorkeling, hiking Mount Rinjani, and island hopping to the Gili Islands.
- Peak Season (July-August): Busiest and most expensive. Book everything in advance.
- Shoulder Months (April-June & September-October): Sweet spot β great weather, fewer crowds, lower prices.
Wet Season (November to March): Rainy, high humidity, rough seas, and sometimes cancelled fast boats to Gili. Not recommended for first-time visitors. However, you’ll find great deals and empty beaches if you don’t mind rain.
π‘ Pro tip: For first-timers, we recommend May, June, or September β perfect weather without peak season crowds.
